Tainted Baby Formula Recalled
Nestle, the world's biggest food company, has recalled hundreds
of thousands of gallons of baby milk from France, Portugal,
Spain and Italy. Traces of the chemical isopropylthioxanthone
(ITX) had leached into the product from the packaging ink.
As Much as 8 Million Gallons
Up to 8 million gallons of contaminated milk were confiscated,
and as much as 530 thousand gallons were recalled, in Italy
alone. Spokespeople for Nestle claimed the substance posed no
health risk, and that the recall was "an extreme precautionary
measure to reassure consumers."
"Undesirable"
European Union food safety experts said the presence of the
substance is considered "undesirable" in food by the EU's Food
Safety Agency.
The Nestle company says that it has changed its production
processes since the recall.

Dr. Mercola's Comment:Here's yet one more reason you should be
wary of feeding your baby manufactured, processed formula.
Nestle officials actually reported the problem two months ago --
the more recent recalls were only made when consumers and
government officials started taking matters into their own hands.
With tainted milk reported in Spain, Italy, France and Portugal
and the high number of products already recalled, the problem
could be much more serious and widespread than officials care to
admit.
This is just one more powerful reason why you want to avoid
using commercial infant formulas. Without question the single
best food for a newborn is breast milk.
If you're unable to breastfeed your baby -- the safest,
healthiest means available to nourish your child and protect
your own health -- I urge you to review my series on healthy
alternatives to conventional formulas.
If you haven't heard by now, pasteurized milk is not good for
you or your baby.If this is surprising to you I would encourage
you to review my article on the Real Reasons Why Raw Milk is
Becoming More Popular.
Although raw milk is not commercially available in the United
States in any state but California, you can obtain it by
purchasing it directly from the farmer who owns the cow.
Please avoid the mistakeof switching to a soy-based formula,
as they areeven worse, and should be avoided at all costs. It is
my strong belief that these dangerous products should be
immediatley removed from the market and never be consumed by any
child for any reason.
Never processed, never pasteurized and never homogenized, raw
dairy products are high in antioxidants, vitamins (including
B-12), all 22 essential amino acids, natural enzymes, natural
probiotics and good fatty acids.
