If You Have Problems Achieving Targets It Pays To Be SMART
You can be SMART when setting targets and goals. You may have
realised that SMART is an acronym so I should explain.
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Realistic
Time Constrained
Specific.
Refine what it is you actually want
Fill in as much detail as possible
How much will it cost?
Is it available?
Where?
Measurable.
Will you know when you have reached your target?
How will you measure your progress?
Plan the route by breaking it down into measurable
steps [ie PLAN]
Keep records if necessary
Reward yourself on reaching each step
Achievable.
Is it what you really want?
Why do you want it?
What will stop you?
Do you need any extra skills, knowledge or
qualifications?
Is it compatible with other areas of your life?
Realistic.
Take full responsibility for your targets
Do not convince yourself that you will not be able to
meet your targets
Do not let others convince you that you will not be
able to achieve your targets
Keep your goals secret
For other aspects see achievable
Time Constrained.
A goal is a dream with a deadline
Without a deadline it is just a dream
When do you want it?
When can you achieve it?
When should you measure your progress?
How much time each day/week/month/year will it take?
