Basics of Publishing a Website

For anyone wanting to publish an informative website in which the Search Engines will love follow these simple guidelines... First of all, You should think about your own hobbies and interests. Research possibilities of a Niche that you would enjoy writing about. You don't want your website to become a JOB. If you enjoy what you are writing about and/or promoting you will have better luck online. Use a keyword research tool such as Wordtracker to find out the profitability of possible words and phrases that you can use on your main pages as well as articles that link back to your home page. This is imperative to your online success. With Wordtracker you can find out how many times the word or term was searched. How many competing sites there are and the possible profitability of the word/phrase. This is a step that many skip. And thus end up with too many competing sites. Next, you need to find a host that will offer you the tools you need to properly automate your website. Whether you plan to add a blog, guest book, or ezine for back end follow up. There are numerous hosting programs online and some also offer an affiliate program for referals. Once you have your keywords (you will need to start with atleast 5 quality words or phrases) And your host, you can begin creating your site. First you need to choose a template. Many free ones can be found online if your host does not provide them. This way every page you develop will look the same. You will need to begin with your home page, an introduction to what is to be found within your site. And 4-5 main "top" pages containing the highest quality keywords for the content. Write your Introduction as well as informative articles for each of these keywords. All of these pages should be linked together. As in a "navigation bar" whether it be at the top or side of your pages. They should be easily visible to the visitor. You will also need to include links somewhere on the pages for your Article Directory, Site Map and Link Partner page. These pages are imperative for ending up with an "authority" site in the Search Engines. Once you have finished your home page and your 4-5 main pages you can "plug-in" google adsense where ever you find appropriate as well as affiliate links to outside merchants. When signing up for affiliate programs beware of those that charge you to participate. There are plenty of free affiliate programs on the web. Now you are ready to start creating the traffic you need to your site. This is where your Article Directory, Link Partners and Article Submissions come in. You will want to go back to Wordtracker and find as many relevant keywords as you can with good possibility of profitability. Meaning they are searched with the least competing websites. You don't want to use keywords or phrase that have 1 million plus competing sites! Write at least 5 articles based around these keywords to add to your article directory. On your Article directory page you will list the URL and a short description of the articles. Then upload these articles for viewing. Make sure the Articles follow the same format as the rest of your website. They should have navigation buttons to your main pages. This is also another great place for adsense. When you write these articles you can also publish them to Article Directories giving you more opportunities for traffic/recognition. Last but certainly not least. Find your link partners! You will want to find other websites that contain relevant content to your own. Have your URL handy of your link partner page. As well as your home page and the text you want them to link back to you with. Also look for sites that have atleast a PR of 4. If you can get these sites to agree to a reciprocal link it will help you with your PR. Most sites will have a link where you can ask for a reciprocal link. If they do not. Email them. It never hurts to ask. You will want to include in your request: Your home page URL. the content of your site. Your link partner page URL. And the description you want them to use when they link to you. Wait for a response. If you don't get one in a couple weeks, scratch them from your list. You want to get atleast 5-10 to start with before you start any other forms of traffic generation. Conclusion Your site is complete! It may take a while for the Search Engines to find you but you have covered every aspect to speed this along. You may now start other forms of traffic generation. Such as posting in relevant forums. Never spam however, you will get kicked out! You may also opt to join a community of networkers. Anywhere you can think of to talk about your site. Just stay away from FFA or link farms. SE's frown on this type of back link.
