Don't buy the Hype

Do you have dreams of starting your own internet business? Today, there are more opportunities to get started in your own business than ever, but before you take the leap, let me point out some things to look out for. 1. Don't get in a hurry. It is very important that you seek out a business that fits you and that you feel comfortable with. One of the problems I encountered when I started my business was the vast amount of information on the net and sorting through all the hype can be very confusing and deceiving to the "newbie." One of the tricks of the trade is to get get potential customers in the position that they feel they must buy right then. So study the information very carefully and ask lots of questions. Seek out others who are already involved in a home based business and choose your suppliers based on service and on how long they are in business. There are lots of forum out there and most people in business don't mind answering your questions and helping you if you will just ask them. 2. Limit your time spent in your Online Business. It is important that you guard against becoming so busy that you begin to neglect your family. If you are not careful, you will get drawn into this vicious cycle of wanting to do more and more to the neglect of your family. Remember, success doesn't come overnight and time away from the computer benefits you and your family. So limit the amount of time spent in your business and be certain that you have time for your family and family activities. You will be glad you did. 3. Don't believe everything the "gurus" tell you. Success with a Home Based business is not instantaneous, regardless of all fabulous offers that the "gurus" are touting. Each one has a website that says something like this: "earn $4,000 to $8,000 your first month." Another says, "make $200,000 your first year." Another says that you can earn $300,000 the very first year with no experience. Experience has taught me that success with a home based business does not come instantly, despite all the promises from the "gurus." Don't be stampeded into buying something just because the marketer tells you will miss this great offer if you don't take advantage right now. Stop! Think about it. Don't worry! It will be available next week if you are still interested. 4. Hold your credit cards in an iron fist We are talking about spending your money here. Every entrepreneur is trying to sell you something. That's their business and if you are not careful they will convince you to buy their product. The problem is you don't need everything they are selling. Credit cards make things very convenient and easy, too easy. The first thing you must do is, NEVER buy something late at night. If you think it is something you "must" have, wait 24 hours and then purchase the item. If you don't discipline your spending you will run out of something to spend. Rare is the case where we have to make a decision to buy something immediately. Stop! Think about it! And wait at least 24 hours before making a decision. It will save you lots of money and grief. The solution is to discipline yourself to wait at least 24 hours before you purchase anything. Do this and you will find that a lot of stuff you would have purchased looks different 24 hours later. After waiting a day, if you still feel that you need the item, buy it. This will save you lot and lots of money. 5. Don't give up. When you go into business for yourself it will be fun and easy when you begin. After a while, the "honey moon" will be over. Sales probably won't be what you expected and you find that you are spending more money that you had anticipated. At this point, the thought that maybe I should not have gone into this business will begin to cross your mind. These are thoughts that all of us have had at one time or another. Don't give up! Suck it up and keep working. Yes, it get frustrating when sales are low and you are not receiving many hits on your website, but keep going. When I went in business I had six months of very little traffic and no sales and it got very frustrating but in the seventh month things begin to turn around. Sales started coming in and things changed. If I had quit that first six months, I would have never been successful. Successful people are successful because they didn't quit. Keep working hard at your business and it will succeed. These are some of the thing that I live by and have helped me in a successful business
