Connection
Feeling connected is one of the nicest sensations I've
experienced. Below are a variety of connections that matter to
me listed in random order: *Snuggling with my pet
*Selecting a bouquet from my garden
*Waving to a neighbor
*Welcoming my husband home from work
*Seeing my children complete a successful project
*Marveling at the miracles of Nature
*Collaborating with my coaching colleagues
*Having my articles published
*Remembering my parents when they were at their best
*Being invited
*Volunteering on behalf of children or animals or the
environment
One of the most rewarding professionally is the connection to my
energy when 'on purpose' in support of my goals. Whether it's
writing a book, speaking with the editor, scheduling a speaking
engagement, preparing for the radio program or the television
show, designing a workshop or meeting for lunch to brainstorm
with a business associate, that thrill of discovery as we
prepare agendas and materials is rich and rewarding.
What do you think of when you read this? Is your next project
ready? Is there a family member with whom you've been wanting a
deeper connection? Is there a long lost friend you'd like to
find?
I once had a client who longed for a pet, yet was living in a
place where that wasn't permitted. She missed the connection,
the wagging tail, the loving brown eyes she'd come to rely upon
when returning home. Her solution? She began to volunteer at the
pet orphanage near her work, so after the office, she'd stop en
route home. Her heart was warmed by the connection to the canine
members who welcomed her with yips and yaps and happy tails and
she provided much needed human connection for them. A fabulous
win for all! In realizing her connection to the plight of
orphaned animals, she enlisted a team from her office and
together they set up a schedule of regular visits, dog walking
days and connected in a family way which even included the cats
and baby kittens.
Connection as solution is a lovely philosophical concept. To
what do you long to connect? This moment is the time to answer
that question. Are you willing to take a small action to restore
your connection? Yes you can and this moment is the perfect
time. You'll be well rewarded in countless ways and you'll bask
in the heart warming delights that will be the return on your
investment.
Since each of us is uniquely designed, our passions and dreams
are also unique to us. Knowing that, you can set aside some spa
time, or "r n r" time to ponder, dream, remember, design and
organize how you want to connect. What effort are you ready to
make? One of my first life coaches asked me to write a vision
statement of how I wanted things to look "eventually". It seemed
difficult to me, yet I did it. Fast forward to today and I can
say that every single thing I wrote on that far away list is
currently actually a part of my current life--and much more. It
hadn't occurred to me to include going to world class spa
resorts, spending time at the beach, snow shoeing in the
mountains and visiting Mexico, yet all those bonuses have been
added as I pursue one goal at a time in my eagerness to connect
my goals and dreams to my career.
In conclusion, feeling connection is very motivating for me and
I recommend it. The good news is that it is within your power to
organize it as you wish. Yes you can! Go for it, and email me
regarding your connection.
