The Deep Roots of Integrity
I planted 81 trees this spring. Those trees with large root
systems will surely grow strong and healthy, even if they look
like just a twig above the ground. Those with smaller root
systems are in for a rough ride, even if they have several feet
of trunk to them already.
So, too, with people. Those of us who have nurtured our roots,
our values, our integrity, what nobody else can see, will always
be strong. Those of us who have neglected our integrity in favor
of what the world can see could be in for a rough ride.
Take some time today to nurture your integrity. It is the best
investment a person can make.
Was it easy for her to pull the heavy and bulky wagon? No. Did
she stop after a minute? No. Five minutes? No. Ten minutes? No.
It was almost as if she knew this was a test of character and
she wanted to get an A+
As adults, we face daily choices: take the easy way out and just
go along for the ride, or do the best we can do and be the best
we can be. I am sure every one of us chooses both options
several times a day. Let's be conscious of those decisions
today.
