But in order to absorb and retain information, they have to go through the first stage of learning, which is reading. For most of us who are pressed for time, speed reading has become more and more attractive, some even consider it to be a necessity. Here are some essential ideas to read and comprehend faster. 1) First of all be sure to relax. If you're tense or in the stressed mode, it is certainly much more difficult to concentrate; therefore, it would definitely be a lot more difficult harder for the get through where you have any chance of understanding or retaining it. 2) Secondly, know exactly what it is you �re after. Focus on the parts of the material that you really need to learn, and as much as possible avoid and or ignore the rest Most of us out of habit read all parts of a book, when all we need to read is a specific chapter or certain pages.
