Control What You Take In
Does what we read, watch and listen to really have a significant
effect on us? Absolutely! and a lot of what we are taking in is
contrary to our positive state of mind. The good news is, it
doesn't have to be.
In fact, there are several things we can do to control it. If
you read the front page of the newspaper everyday, I strongly
urge you to stop unless it's critical that you do. For the most
part, it's a negative window on life.
I'm not saying don't read the newspaper, I'm just saying be
cautious and alert to what your reading. Ask yourself these
questions. - How will this influence the way I feel now? - Is it
enriching? - Am I missing something valuable if I don't read it.
- Will I enjoy it?
I think you can see where I'm going with this. Be in Control.
Next is the radio. Do you commute to work by car with the radio
on? Do you have the radio on in the background at work or at
home? If you have the option to have it on or off, I urge you to
turn it off unless you have the time to control what you are
listening to. Your favorite music would be preferred.
Whether we want to admit it or not , it can influence and alter
how we feel, think and act. The same methodology applies to TV,
the internet or any other form of media. I'm not saying don't
listen, read, watch or surf. I'm saying be deliberate and in
control of what you are about to engage yourself in and be
cognizant of how it will affect your positive state of mind.
If you're worried that your going to miss something, don't be
too concerned. It's amazing how the people around you want to
share the days news with you. The same news that was on the
radio, TV, newspaper and on the net.
