Who wants to carry on being a failure?
Who wants to carry on being a failure?
Failure. Not a great word is it? It is a very negative word, it
says nothing good happened at all. But it's still a word that is
used a lot by so many people. Here in the UK as this is being
written there is a huge buzz in the media about an alternative
phrase for the word failure. This buzz centres around a group of
school teachers who have decided that failure is not an option
for the children they teach. Now they just have "deferred
success". Of course the media is sensationalising the phrase as
Political correctness, but I can see where they are going with
this.
Deferred success, I like the sound of it don't you? It was said
by someone (and repeated by many) that you haven't failed until
you actually stop trying. When you look right at it, deferred
success means exactly the same thing. In a classroom they will
make you do something over and over until you get it right, so
until they give up doing it, no one has failed. If they
eventually grasp the lesson then their success was only deferred
until a later time.
Isn't this how you should see your business "failures" instead.
You no longer failed you merely deferred success until you
attain it later. Every "deferred success" is actually a step
towards success because you just learned how not to do whatever
it is you were attempting. Once you run out of ways that don't
work, you will discover the one that does.
When you fail you are using a negative in association with your
business. If you defer success then that says something positive
is yet to come.
So isn't it time for you to stop failing, and instead have a
"deferred success"?
