NAGALAND PEACE PROCESS: A JOURNEY WITH SEVERAL ROADBLOCKS

The complexity of the Nagaland issue makes it more necessary for
the government to carry on with the peace process in a planned
and structured manner. The peace talks with National Socialist
Council of Nagalim (IM) and the government for the last seven
years an renewal of ceasefire is indeed a giant step towards the
attempt to end the five decade old insurgency in the state.
The cease-fire agreement has created the required environment
for peace talks. The people of Nagaland are relieved of the
violence which they have been experiencing for the past five
decades. But it is thought provoking that if still each family
has to pay taxes to the underground groups then what is the the
definition of peace.
