The Historic Lantz House Inn
My husband and I travel often and enjoying discovering new and
unique places across the country. While our travels have taken
us from coast to coast there's one place where we discovered a
peaceful piece of paradise right here in Indiana; at the
Historic Lantz House Inn in Centerville, Indiana. This romantic
Bed & Breakfast sits along Route 40 (the Historic National
Road), within driving distance to Richmond and all Wayne County
has to offer.
Enjoy Being Pampered At The Historic Lantz House Inn
Sleep in the comfort of cozy warmth and comfort in one of the
tastefully decorated rooms, and in the morning enjoy a delicious
breakfast served by your wonderful hostess, who is more than
happy to specialize the menu for your needs. The savory aroma of
a home-cooked breakfast drifts into the beautiful living area
while you read the morning paper before your meal. For us it was
a delight to have someone pamper us and serve us a full
breakfast, and then escape outside to sip our coffee in the
beautiful gardens.
The house is decorated with antiques and furnishings that make
you feel like you're at home in the Historic Lantz House Inn,
not like you're staying in a museum. The amenities include
private baths in five themed rooms, a cozy sitting room with
library and television, coffee, tea, and newspaper are provided
daily, and breakfast is served between 7 and 10 am. This is nice
for those days you want to sleep in. the Lantz House Inn also
offers corporate and extended stays, along with weekday
specials, making it an affordable getaway.
Let Your Cares Slip Away In The Beautiful Gardens
Beside the main house is a wonderful Garden Suite, with private
access to the gardens, which we especially enjoyed on the warm
Indiana evenings. The intimate setting of the beautiful gardens
is often rented for outdoor events and receptions. As a
gardener, I appreciated the hard work and care it took to groom
the garden filled with native Indiana plants, blooms of all
colors, and lovely walking paths. The warm hospitality of our
hostess, and great selection of attractions, activities, dining,
and shopping in and around the Historic Lantz House Inn, located
at 214 West Main St. in Centerville make it the perfect place to
getaway for any occasion or just to pamper yourself. Call the
Historic Lantz House Inn at 1-800-495-2689 for reservations and
details on specials available.

The gardens are lit with delicate lights at night and so
peaceful you would never know the Historic Lantz House Inn sits
along a National Road. Its location in Centerville is close

a peaceful piece of paradise away from heavy traffic. Just down
the block are several choices for dining like the Palais Royal
Cafe and Jags Cafe, plus antique and unique little shops to
explore like the Candy Jar, where we found tasty Fudge and
Carmel Corn. A short drive around the corner and you'll find the
Centerville Farmer's Market where there's a wonderful selection
of fresh produce and local Amish products.
Arts, Antiques & Warm Glow Candles
Just down the road from the Historic Lantz House Inn is Scott
Shafer's Stoneware, offering a unique array of handmade
stoneware for everyday use created onsite by Scott Shafer in his
Centerville Studio. Drive a bit further from Scoot Shafer
Stoneware and you'll find Webb's Antique Mall, one of the
largest in the country. From antiques to the unusual, there's
plenty of unique items to browse in this Antique Mall. For those
who love Antiquing you'll enjoy traveling throughout Wayne
County to explore Antique Alley.
While on the road we often pick up special gifts for family and
friends. We found just the right gifts at the Warm Glow Candle
Co. Outlet Store just a short drive from Webb's Antique's. They
can also make special baskets filled with wonderfully scented
candles and accessories.

A-Mazing, The Dougherty Family Orchard
Gather up the kids and head over the the Dougherty Family
Orchard for a season of picking and stop by the Petting Zoo. The
Dougherty family recognized the importance of creating family
setting with activities that benefit the entire family. Their
daughters and son, Ty, who continue in their parent's footsteps,
have inherited this dedication. The orchard is a place where
families can pick apples together or feed a number of exotic
animals in addition to those found on a farm. Families can also
laugh themselves silly while trying to find their way out of the
famous McMaze. The Dougherty's received national recognition
when they created a maze in the likeness of Hoosier, David
Letterman, who featured their maze on the Late Show. The
Dougherty Orchards is located at 1117 Dougherty Road near
Cambridge City, in east central Indiana, just four miles off of
Interstate 70 about an hours drive from Indianapolis, Muncie,
Anderson, and Dayton, Ohio. For information on upcoming events
