Spend the Day at the Hillwood Art Museum The Hillwood Art Museum is located at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville. For those who love the arts or even appreciate the arts just a little bit will find that the Hillwood Art Museum exceeds all of their expectations. There is so much to see and do at the Hillwood Art Museum. Temporary Exhibits There are many temporary exhibits which grace the halls of the Hillwood Art Museum throughout the year. Some of the temporary exhibits which will be making a stop at the Hillwood Art Museum include Archival to Contemporary: Six Decades of the Sculptors Guild, January 30 - April 8, 2006; Art of the Americas: The Collection Revealed, throughout 2006; and, Ritual Objects from the African Continent. The inclusion of these types of temporary exhibits make visiting Hillwood Art Museum a new experience almost every time. Permanent Exhibits The Hillwood Art Museum also has a permanent collection. Some of the great works which fill the museum include Pre-Columbian artifacts, Collection of African art, Persian Bronze and Islamic Glass, Contemporary Photography and Hellenistic, Etruscan, and Roman collections. One cannot possibly view these items enough as each time an individual sees these collections, they most likely will take note of a different aspect and attribute thereof. Special Events The Hillwood Art Museum hosts special events throughout the year such as opening receptions, lectures and recitals. Attending these events is a great way to be able to mingle with other lovers of the arts and contribute to a great cause as well. General Information The Hillwood Art Museum is open Monday through Saturday during every season except summer and hours vary depending upon the day. During the summer season, one can visit the museum Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visiting the Hillwood Art Museum is a great way to learn more about the arts and possibly participate in some special events as well.
