Getting Beautiful for the Prom
Congratulations ladies, the night has finally arrived to attend
the party of the year! Remember, your makeup doesn't have to be
showy or strong. Just avoid bright, harsh colors and anything
too caked-on. It is better to arrive at the prom understated but
polished. Instead of wearing purple or bright blue shadow, opt
for a sunshine-y or a cool taupe. Try a sheer lipstick or
colored gloss rather than doing the lip liner/lip stick jazz
that is not for you. Forget about beauty pageant blush. It is
better to lightly dust on bronzer, and then add a soft pink
blush of apple to your cheeks. Ladies, try not to do flashy lips
or eyes. Choose one feature to focus on and downplay the rest.
You will be better off. For great looking eyes, add lots of
mascara or consider some false eyelashes. It just might
pleasantly surprise you. If you would prefer to do your lips,
then try wearing a daring and flattering color.
Another point to consider on prom night is that your makeup will
need to last through the night and there are several
long-lasting formulas of everything from lipstick to foundation
to mascara. Remember, little tricks such as applying a concealer
and powder before eye shadow, or dusting your foundation with
loose powder will help to set your makeup and will give you
peace of mind for the rest of the evening.
Last but not least, the hair. Remember prom hairstyles are all
the same and overly hair sprayed updo's with curls galore are
too common. Never think that to be "dressed up" you will need a
complicated, elegant hairstyle. That is just plain
old-fashioned. You can have straight hair, especially for curly
girls it will make you glamorous and "together". Add a beaded
headband, beaded barrette, or tiara for that extra glitz.
Luscious curls are romantic, flowing curls or waves compliment
ruffled, femme gowns, and will contrast nicely with "hip"
dresses that are sassy. How about a chic chignon, which is a
sleek, low bun or ponytail-look that is sophisticated but never
overdone. There are some fun hairclips or ponytail holders that
will set this great style off. Have fun and enjoy the prom.
