America & Little River Band Review - Aladdin Hotel
America is best known for their #1 hits "Horse With No Name" and
"Sister Golden Hair." The trio Gerry Beckley (vocals, keyboards,
bass, guitar, and harmonica), Dewey Bunnell (vocals and guitar),
and Dan Peek (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboard, and harmonica) all
attended London Central High in the mid-sixties where they met
and formed the rock band America. When their first album America
went platinum they moved to the United States and released three
more chart topping albums. Peek left the group in 1977 and the
remaining duo produced many more albums and releasing the pop
charts #8 hit "You Can Do Magic" in 1982. America is considered
one of the most traveled and hard-working bands ever, as they
continued to play live concerts throughout their 35 years
careers.
The Little River Band is an American rock band that started in
Australia. Within eight months of forming, Little River Band had
scored three Australian Top 20 singles and two Top 10 albums.
Their self-titled debut album was quickly released in the US and
they began headlining their own major shows while touring
internationally with other groups such as America, Doobie
Brothers, and the Eagles. In 1982 they became the only act in
the world to have a Top 10 US single for six consecutive years
while also achieving 16 hit singles by 1985, as well as gold,
platinum, and multi-platinum album sales awards that eclipsed
the 25 million mark. All-told Little River Band have notched up
eight Top 10 singles in the US, where just two of their songs,
"Reminiscing" and "Lady", have more than 8 million radio plays
between them. The current line up consists of Wayne Nelson (lead
vocals and bass), Stephen Housden (guitar and vocals), Greg Hind
(guitar and vocals), Billy Thomas (drums and vocals), and Chris
Marion (keyboards and vocals.)
