Becoming the Alpha Male: Working the Crowd
Working the crowd by yourself can be very intimidating.
After all, if you don't know anyone, or no one is willing/able
to introduce you to anyone it makes for a bit of an uphill climb
when it comes to meeting people and more specifically, girls.
There really isn't an easy way to do this. Some people are born
schmoozers - being able to talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime
without the least bit of hesitation or trouble - but for others
it's more of a process.
The best way to start working the crowd it to just jump in and
do it as soon as you enter the room.
The longer you wait to jump into a conversation with someone,
the less likely you are to get into a conversation with someone.
It's like cliff diving. The longer you stand on top of the cliff
and look at the water below, the less likely you are to jump.
Why?
Because you give yourself a chance to get scared. Don't give
yourself a chance to get scared. Just get in there and do it.
There are a couple of things that you can do to help yourself,
though.
Before you go into the room, get yourself into a positive,
upbeat frame of mind. I don't care what happened to you during
the day, if you go into that room anything less than 100%
positive and confident your job will be that much harder (as the
girls won't be nearly as receptive to your attempts at
conversation).
Make yourself laugh. You should probably to do this silently.
Think about something funny that happened, or about a time when
you were successful talking to someone "out of the blue".
Think of this as a game.
Do whatever you have to do to make yourself relax, and take some
of the pressure off of yourself.
