Simple Rules For Small Spaces
Many of us have small spaces or small rooms that we're just not
sure what to do with. Here are a few tips for making those
smaller spaces appear larger.
1. Lighter shades of paint will do wonders for a room and is
probably the least expensive way to start.
2. Large or small the most underutilized space in a room is
about 2 - 3 feet from the ceiling. Try putting high shelves over
windows and doors. If you possess taller furniture try putting
it in the room. Think tall when your ready to redecorate the
smaller spaces.
3. Mirrors, mirrors, mirrors! They do wonders to small spaces,
as long as they are facing something eye-catching like a window
or painting.
4. This is the hardest for most people...Remove the
clutter!...it's almost like quitting a bad habit but don't
despair it can be done. Take those old magazines you haven't
read for a year and Recycle them and keep only a few out for
guests to read, Get a file crate for all your kids school work
they bring home that you just can't get yourself to throw away.
Remember less is more when it comes to small spaces.
5. If you don't have small furniture try and put only a couple
of larger furniture pieces in the room, if possible put a mirror
directly across from it to give the room the illusion of being
larger.
Don't be afraid of trying different colors of paint or moving
furniture around. With a little imagination and ingenuity you
will be on your way in giving your small space the illusion of a
larger one with style and flair.
