The Anger of the Box
Last week we left off with: "I could not resist. I had to go
push that button again. But of course I had to share it with my
best friend. I ran to Jim's house and told him I was going to
push the button again!"

And now continuing:
We returned. We walked slowly up the stairs. I was breathing
heavy, I did not want to make the box angry again, but I really
wanted to push that button. So did Jim.
My finger stretched out. I felt the round hard plastic button.
And I pushed it.
"What do you want?" the box asked.
"Sir, do you want this week's Grit newspaper?" I asked the box.
"No! I told you last week that I did not want it! My sign says
no solicitors!" the box screamed.
Amazing! The box had a memory!
"Sorry sir!" I replied.
Of course Jim wanted to push the button also.
"What do you want now?" The box asked.
"Do you want me to bring you Grit next week?" I queried.
At this point I did not understand why anyone would NOT want
Grit. It was a very good newspaper.
"Please do not return!" The box said.
But we had been able to push the button again, which made our
day. Jim and I ran back to his house to celebrate with some
Kool-Aid.
I continued to order and sell the Grit newspaper for about 6
months. I rather enjoyed selling it, but my customers were not
wanting to get every subscription, and I started to run short a
few times trying to get all of the newspapers sold. My profits
became quite slim on some deliveries, so I became discouraged
and decided not to sell Grit anymore.
Next I decided to sell greeting cards.
