Landscaping Ideas With Rock

If your yard is suffering from boredom as it looks pretty much like any other lawn in your neighborhood, consider some landscaping ideas with rock to change things up. Your landscape is the first thing people see when they venture to your house so try to use some creativity to leave a lasting impression. There are many ways to proceed with your design, and one decorative way is to use rocks as a pathway. The first thing you need to do in this project is remove all the grass wherever you plan on putting the path. This will help keep unwanted weeds from growing up between the rocks. Simply use a shovel or tiller to break the roots up and move it out of the way. Try to go down around 4 or 5 inches, so the stones will have plenty to hold them in. Save any dirt (minus the roots) to reuse, and be aware that you may need additional dirt from other sources. The next thing to do is place a rather thin layer of gravel over the newly exposed ground to act as a base supporting the heavier landscaping rock. Arrange the rocks in a decorative manner, perhaps leading straight to your home or to your garden area. You can stagger them or place them at random for the best results. Finally, fill in around the rocks for the final support using either dirt or more gravel depending on the look you are going for. Either choice makes for a nice finish to the walkway, but make sure they don't jiggle or move at all when walking on them. Safety has to be a priority, in addition to looks. Having a distinct stone pathway to your home is a wonderful idea for any landscape. It presents something for your guests to follow that is different from what they are used to, and looks breathtaking as well. You will want to keep the weeds and other undesirable elements off of it to maintain a nice clean look. For some finishing touches you can plant some trees or shrubs around it, creating a nice landscape design. Mix and match small plants and flowers with the larger trees to give some contrast, as well as color. Consider using perennials for your rock landscaping as their beauty is unmatched, and their availability is abundant. Place a small statue between two colorful flower species, perhaps offset in a special area. You can also add a trellis with vines growing up to lend individuality to your design. Your visitors will comment on how wonderful everything looks. With a little patience and some creativity you can accomplish just about any landscaping design you can think of. Try to look at other examples of how different things are used together, providing you with ideas that you can mix and match. Your lawn and garden areas are supposed to be places where you can relax and enjoy the outdoors with your friends and family, so take some time and put your stamp on it. In the end you will be happy you did it.
