What Of The Day?
"Oh Prophet, what of the Day?" screams the headlines today. Paul
wrote that in the latter days, which include us, "perilous
times" shall be the theme of the day.
This word describes a society that is totally removed from any
godliness. It is a time when wicked people do wickedly and
wickedness is upon the earth. Has there ever been a time as this.
Yes, Jesus said that "as in the days of Noah", so shall it be
in the coming of the son of man. Those six words describe Paul's
society of Perilous times. In fact the bible says it this way:
Genesis 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is
come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through
them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
1Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the
longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark
was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by
water.
2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the
eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the
flood upon the world of the ungodly; The word "violence"
according to strongs Hebrew #2555, transliterated into English
means violence, destruction, cruelty, wrong, injustice, hatred,
false, unrighteousness. It comes from a verb transliterated as
'Hamas' to do violently, to do violence, to do harm, to lay
waste, to think up, devise, and to be stripped of. This verb has
cognates in Aramaic, Akkadian, and Arabic, according to my
libronix research library. Does the Word 'Hamas' mean anything
to you today? It pictures such a society that God said "the end
of all flesh is come before me". Peter said of this society it
was "ungodly" and that Noah was a "preacher of righteousness".
Noah was not just building his ark 8 hours a day, going home
drinking latte's, and then going to bed. In the spare time, and
while this man was building an ark, he was speaking to those
around him to repent. He did this so much, he was considered a
"preacher of righteousness".
In this we see the mercy of God, in that he actually waited to
destroy the inhabitants of the earth until the ark of safety was
built. Today, Jesus [Iesos, in Hebrew Yeshua HaMassiach] is our
ARK of safety. If we repent and turn from our ways, we shall be
saved from the wrath of God. If we do not, then the wrath will
be upon those who follow this course.
In our society many do as they think is normal and good. They
work, keep some sort of morals, and follow the democratic law
for a society. Howbeit, some do not. For those law breakers, we
provide justice. Sometimes though, lately, the justice is
skewed. The money a man has can buy a lawyer who will defend
him. If he is good enough in the defense, the defendant gets off
the hook. We declare him innocent. How many of these guilty men
who were declared innocent got off scot free. Then there is
those who are really innocent and were declared guilty. This is
the law of man, imperfect. The law of God is perfect. He has
provided a way for you to be declared innocent through the blood
of Jesus Christ. If you believe, you can walk in the shadow of
Gods provisions and find safety.
As you live and work in today's society, don't look to man. Man
will not solve the problems of this world. Don't look to
religion, it will kill you. Look to the Lord. A relationship
with Him is not a religion, but an experience with the risen
conquering Savior and ruler of all things.
Furthermore, as you look at the headlines see the turmoil which
relates to the 'perilous times' Paul talked about. Today, the
headlines of a certain major news magazine had 12 plus stories
related to sex. From molestation, gay issues, and more, our
society is steeped in this sex issue. As we follow the
headlines, you will read of Wars, rumors of wars, pestilence,
plagues, natural disasters, murders, and more.
Truly, the days of Noah are here. The world is filled with
violence; the end of all flesh has come before the Lord. He is
coming soon...
