Philippine Travel: Batangas
Better known for its Batangas Coffee and dive sites, Batangas an
ideal destination if you want quick access to the beach from
Manila. If you are craving for the beach and you only have a
couple of days to spare, the Batangas should be a
consideration.
From Anilao Batangas, the most spectacular dive sites in the
Philippines are within reach. These include Batalan, Caban Cove,
Ligpo Island, Merriel's Rock, Sombrero Island and Verde
Island.
White sand beaches could be found in Batangas such as Calijon
Falls, Gerthel Hugon, and Matabungkay Beac. Nasugbu Batangas is
a popular resort area.
Aside from beaches, there are also attractions inland. In Sto.
Tomas is the General Malvar Museum and Library. General Malvar
is the last Filipino General to surrender to the Americans. In
Tanauan is the Mabini Shrine where the national hero Apolinario
Mabini was buried. He was known as the "Brains of the
Katipunan".
Some of the better preserved relics of the Spanish era could be
found at the Taal Heritage Village. Attractions in the village
include Leon Apacible Historical Landmark, Marcela Marino
Agoncillo Museum and Monument, the Basilica of San Martin de
Tours and the Church of Our Lady of Caysasay, which houses
priceless relics of the colonial period.
