Change Your Mindset, Change Your Outcome

Do you expect to win or do you expect to lose? Simple question. Answer?

The language of so many people suggests that when faced with an opportunity of any description, they don't expect to win. Therefore, by default, they are setting themselves up to lose.

Language is simply a manifestation of the way the mind thinks and the belief system that it has. The proof of this is how the words get assembled in the first place. They have to be thought - either consciously or sub-consciously.

What is your language? Is it positive or is it negative?

What do you say most of the time? Think about it with the following examples:

  • "I can do that" or "I could never do that."
  • "I expect to win" or "I don't expect to win."
  • "I'll do it" or "I'll try to do it."
  • Have you ever asked somebody how he or she is feeling then wished immediately that you hadn't. Out of their mouth comes a litany of woe-is-me language. Tiresome, isn't it? I hope YOU don't do that when somebody asks you. Do you?

Since what you naturally say is what you naturally think, your first step towards becoming a more positive person is to refuse to utter negative comments. That takes a conscious thought. Changing this tendency means that you will not actually hear yourself making self-sabotaging statements. Your ears will thank you for that! Don't dismiss the power of this. Your own voice is a great mind re-inforcer.

The next step is to replace your negative thoughts with positive ones. The easiest way to do that is to absorb the teachings of personal development books. Some good ones to start with are:

  • "The Magic of Thinking Big" - David Schwartz
  • "Think and Grow Rich" - Napoleon Hill
  • "Psycho-Cybernetics" - Maxwell Maltz
  • These are just a few titles. Another method is to undertake a personal development course.

Whatever method you choose one thing will be certain - you will definitely become aware of negative habits. So, if you change your mindset you can change your outcomes.
