2006 Fuel Cell Propulsion and Energy Generation Trends

In 2005 we have seen Fuel Cell Technology advance. There are now commercial portable generators you can buy for your home to power up your house, cabin or shop. There are small golf carts, mopeds and automobiles, which run on hydrogen cells.

There are trucks, buses and other vehicles, which now exist. There are conferences around the world with start-up companies displaying all sorts of vehicles and machines which can and do run efficiently, quietly and with adequate performance on fuels cells. Currently the price is a little high for such vehicles and fueling is a bit of a problem, but this is a temporary issue, as infrastructure to support such is not up to the capacity needed to completely switch.

In 2006 we will see some changes, such as the first fueling stations for the public and some company trucking companies using these technologies. We will see some of the economies of scale come into place to make this a reality. We will see some states with progressive displacements make tax incentives for those who will buy these things and help foster the entrepreneurial spirit of those who are working hard to bring them to market for all. We will see more large cities move to fuel cell buses and partner with company owned fleets to modify or do change overs of existing vehicles. We will see these slow and progressive changes and new innovations throughout the year. Think on this in 2006.
