So your manuscript is done? CONGRATULATIONS! Now the work begins. Here are 5 Tips that will significantly increase your chances of getting your work published.

1 Know the lingo. Get to know the words like "unsolicited" which means that no one at the publishing house asked for the submission. If you are in a position where you can not afford, or simply do not wish to hire an agent, you may need to solicit by contacting the publishing houses of your choice to pitch your material. Simply go onto Google and search under, BOOK PUBLISHING TERMINOLOGY or PUBLISHING GLOSSARY.

2 Start small. Try getting published in a magazine or newspaper first. Being able to write in your query letter that you are a published author will give you a boost.
