Blended Wing Body Airliners by 2017?

What he is a blended winning body (BWB)? Well it is a flying wing type aircraft similar to the B-2 bomber. Some say we will have blended Wing body airliners within the next two decades. In fact Boeing is considering building an airliner, which would be a flying Wing body aircraft. But why? Well, there are several reasons why for instance;

A blended Wing body airliner would be much more efficient with greater lift and reduced drag. Without the fuselage there is less frontal area to push through the air. Some figures in win total tests at NASA show that a BWB is 42 percent more efficient than a regular airliner with a Wing, tail and horizontal stabilizers all sticking out of the wind.

In aircraft, which is 42 percent more efficient will use less fuel and need less power to obtain the same performance. And we all know that fuel is a very important consideration in aircraft design and helping an airline's bottom line. Currently fuel costs are one of the greatest costs for airlines.

The Healthy airlines are those airlines, which run the latest efficient aircraft designs and models and are careful with fuel costs. Just imagine a 42 percent boost in fuel efficiency meaning you can carry more people and more cargo for the same buck. The future airliners of tomorrow may look a whole ought more like the United States Air Force
