So far we have seen the Federal Trade Commission fail in its mission to stop SPAM, in fact one industry report showed that SPAM increased 3000 percent since the FTC took the job of enforcing the CAN SPAM Act. Lot of good that did, as the FTC spent some 6 months defining what SPAM was? Indeed to their credit they did file some 60 plus cases, but in reality this was about 1-2% of the total SPAM.
Perhaps they were trying to scare SPAMMERS into submission with outrageous tough talk and public relations press releases and indeed that might have worked for some, but mostly it did little to curb SPAM. Next we noticed a rise in Phishing, which often is a form of SPAM, but the FTC could not stop this fraudulent activity either now could they. Identity theft has increased yet we all know the biggest users and collectors of personal citizen data is indeed the government itself and you can go look on tax records, DMV reports and marriage licenses and pretty much find out anything you want.
Whose fault is that? The government, yet are they going to enforce their own rank and file; No way? Will Identity Theft ever be stopped? No and certainly not if the United States Government is involved. The Government is only good at wasting Tax Payer
