Well the 2006 Atlantic tropical hurricane season is here and it is time to think about home security. For some people it may be too late but it is time to think about buying storm shutters and cleaning up the yard of any debris, which may become flying missiles from the hurricane winds.
Even a small category hurricane winds and gusts of up to 100 mph can send dangerous debris around. If you have ever been hit by a baseball, by a very fast pitch that may have been around 80 or 90 mph. In the major leagues baseballs are thrown at about 100 mph. If you get hit in the head with a 2X4 or fence stake you could easily get a severe concussion or an injury, which will require a hospital care.
Unfortunately all the hospitals will either be closed or full and you will not be able to drive in the hundred miles per hour winds anyway and there will be no ambulance to come and get you. You need to consider all this when protecting your family from the next big large hurricane. And you also must consider the possibility of flying debris outside your home.
Additionally it may be wise to buy a home generator and some gas cans because after the storm has passed generally the power will be out too. There may also be severe flooding if you live close to the coast or if the hurricane brings in a lot of precipitation. All of these things are essential to consider when planning your home security to protect your family from devastating hurricanes. Consider this in 2006.
