Workplace communication is important in aircraft cleaning companies because if you have to keep walking back to the service vehicle each time you need something you have a longer distance to walk then if you are only detailing a car, good communication means that your team workers can assist you in bringing you what you need and vice versa.
Consider the wing span on a corporate jet and if you park behind the aircraft and you are working at the nose of the aircraft it might take you thirty seconds to walk back to the vehicle and 30 seconds to walk back to where you were and even if it only took you thirty seconds to get there and back you have still wasted 30 seconds.
When there is proper workplace communication you will find yourself walking less and sharing the responsibility of the workload with your crew. Some may say that 30 seconds may not sound like a lot but if it happens continuously while you are washing the same airplane 15 times and you have a crew of three you wasted 22 and one half minutes.
Quite frankly that is unacceptable because production in aircraft cleaning is essential to making money and you are in business to make a profit and so you need workplace communication skills. You see, it matters when you are in the field just like it does when you are in the office.
Some people believe that corporate communication skills and workplace communication only matters in an office setting and that simply is not so. I can tell you after 27 years in business that workplace communication improves efficiencies and helps with profitability no matter what size the business or what the location is. Even out on the flight line or in the hanger out at the airport. Please consider this in 2006.
