Increasingly firms are embracing offshore outsourcing in nations spread throughout time zones, enabling them to offer clientele around the clock services without having to pay staff to work overnight or overtime shifts. This has in many cases, changed the nature of management, however. Whereas before outsourcing, managers might be expected to supervise work late into the evening on occasion, that has become the norm for many managers in more globally integrated firms. Conference calls at 11 pm or midnight US time allow US workers and their Indian counterparts to converse directly rather than having to rely solely upon messages.
