MP4 Files with no sound
I recently purchased a new phone (as my old one died), rather
than going for a "normal" mobile I decided to go for a Windows
smart phone. The main selling point was the features which allow
me to store my whole MP3 collection and listen to them via the
pre installed Windows Media Player, take photos and videos, surf
the net, send e-mail, use as a modem and err oh yeah, make phone
calls (basically may devices in one).
Anyway, enough of all that, one of the main problems was when I
transferred video files created on the phone to my computer for
burning to VCD, etc the sound seemed to vanish with my PC's
media player throwing out errors at me. My first thought was to
go a googling thinking I would find a solution in no time
whatsoever, the results soon displayed that even more people
were shouting the same words "Where's My Sound Gone!" This
common problem also seemed to affect other models such as XDA's
and most other phones that record with the MP4 format.
After reading a few forums it seemed likely the issue was caused
in part by the phone companies, this is because the MP4 file was
using a sound format that is normally associated with the 3GP
file format, this is all fine and dandy but my files still have
no sound.
Many downloads later and a shed load of Ad/Spyware I eventually
found something called the "Mpegable Decoder", well I say
found... a working download was somewhat elusive to say the
least. Anyway after a quick install the codec was applied and
Huston, we sound :o)
BTW: As I am generally a nice chap (although lacking on grey
matter for getting this stressed over an MP4), I have added the
setup file to my own web space just in case you were looking for
it.
Downloa
d the Mpegable Decoder here (Adware/Spyware FREE).
