How do you see it?
How do you see it?
Terry Dashner (www.ffcba.com)
Someone once said that there are not two sides to a story but
three--one side, the other, and the truth in between. Especially
is this true in politics, but in the case of truth and justice
there can only be one side--the truth side.
Yes I know you can deny the truth by saying it isn't so, but you
still can't change the truth. Truth is truth whether or not I
agree with it. Our nation is struggling to make truth out of war
in Asia. Some say America is the villain in Asia. Others say
that tyranny and terrorism are the reasons we fight. But what is
the truth that can not be denied?
The truth that can not be denied is that America didn't start
the war on terrorism. She responded to an attack on American
soil. Remember September 11, 2001? The truth is that America's
military is composed of the finest citizens in the world. They
are men and women of all creeds, religions, colors, and cultures
fighting as one American solider, one airman, one sailor, and
one marine. They are the finest citizens because they volunteer
to lay down their lives daily for an oppressed people on foreign
soil. And what's the truth? Many Americans have died in combat
to save a foreign people from tyranny. There is no greater
service and devotion than this--that a man lay down his life for
another.
Theodore Roosevelt once said, "Americanism is a question of
principle, of idealism, of character: it is not a matter of
birthplace or creed or line of descent." The truth is that we
fight because of principle, idealism, and justice. It is not
right that a people should be enslaved by another group of
people, whether by government, religion, or extremism. To
liberate a man from tyranny is just, and justice always seeks
truth at any cost.
Abraham Lincoln once said, "Those who deny freedom to others
deserve it not for themselves." Try and persuade an American
veteran that there is no truth in Lincoln's statement. It can't
be done. Again Lincoln said, "The shepherd drives the wolf from
the sheep's throat, for which the sheep thanks the shepherd as
his liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act as
the destroyer of liberty." I rest in this. I can't change the
fact that some will always oppose America the liberator.
Although I do rest assured by the truth that all men, everywhere
want to live free. And that man everywhere knows that America
will always be the land of the free.
Keep the faith. Stay the course. Jesus is coming soon.
