Great Activities For The Family Trip
Camping is a great way for families to spend time together, and
is often the backdrop for cherished childhood memories. For
those who have decided to take camping down to its most basic
level and go tenting, there are no electronic conveniences that
will keep the kids occupied during those times when there's a
lull in the day or evening. As a result, you're going to have to
get creative and provide their source of entertainment. That
being the case, here are some great camping activities that your
whole family will love. One way to both entertain and educate
your children is to use natural materials you find in the area
around your camp grounds to make Nature Bracelets. This is easy
even for the youngest child since all you have to do is wind
some masking tape around the wrists (adhesive side facing out)
and attaching interesting items you find as you all take part in
a nature walk. Make an interesting game for your budding
naturalists as they try to identify various leaves, wildflowers,
seeds and bits of shell from a hatched birds egg. Just inspect
everything for safety before allowing your youngsters to touch
or attach anything. You don't want a colorful bracelet made of
poison oak or ivy! Hayrides are one of the more popular
diversions that many camp grounds provide as entertainment for
the campers. They are a lot of fun, especially if, like many
groups, you incorporate them into an autumn or Halloween theme.
The country smell of fresh mown hay will stay with you forever,
so even just a ride in a hay wagon on a summer day can be
memorable. Follow some commen sense rules of safety, as with
most activities. Don't let young children go on their own, and
be very careful of allergies. Make sure you or your children
take your allergy medication if you need to. Another popular
pasttime is singing around the campfire. But why not shake up
tradition a bit, and make up you own songs instead of singing
the old traditional songs? A fun way to do it would be to pick a
song everyone knows, and then have everyone take turns making up
a new, original verse. Encourage everyone to be as silly as
possible, and you will come up with some interesting versions,
and lots of laughs. The one warning here is not to sing too late
into the evening to avoid complaints from neighbors. A puppet
show will entertain the whole family when your young children
put it on. They will enjoy using common campground items. They
will be stimulating their little imaginations as they use a
spatula as a person or a mess kits as a space ship. You can
teach your children to wiggle little fingers into dogs and
rabbits, just as you did when you were young. Do you remember
making shadow figures using a flashlight when you were a kid?
Shared experiences like this are what memories are made of. You
should teach your children to use a compass so they will be safe
while camping. You can make it into a game, and then be surer
they will understand the lesson. After reviewing compass
directions and how to read them, hide some items close by and
give them compass coordinates to find them. If the items they
have to find are prizes, watch how quickly they will learn! For
safety's sake, make sure the prizes are within close range of
the campground. You don't want your children to go into the
woods away from your supervision and so you should discourage
any wandering off by themselves. Camping has been shown to be a
fun, healthy way to share quality family time. It is in
inexpensive way to vacation, if you couldn't afford one
otherwise. You and your family will be relaxed, learn a lot, and
have fun!
