What is Hoodia?
Hoodia gordonii, "Whoo De Ah", is the scientific name for a
leafless, spiky succulent plant that grows throughout the
semi-arid desert areas of Southern Africa primarily the Kalahari
Desert. The local inhabitants (the San) have eaten Hoodia stems
to defend against hunger and thirst when on long journeys or
during times of drought, because it acts as an appetite
suppressant.
After years of diligent research, science has isolated multiple
compounds in this all-natural food that was responsible for
dramatic weight loss. This trend has been widely reported, but
this represents only one of several chemical compounds found in
the Hoodia succulent. It is proven completely safe and it
contains no stimulates that could contribute to any jittery
feeling associated with weight loss pills and other fast weight
loss diet products of the last ten years. It appears to be more
health safe than other
supplements.
The Hoodia plant is registered as a protected species to prevent
Bio-Piracy but the African government has allowed the plant to
be grown on a limited number of commercial farms in South
Africaowned by private farmers.
In the wild, Hoodia takes five to six years to grow to maturity
but with commercial farming techniques, the plant is now being
grown to maturity in as little as two years in sustainable
quantities. The Hoodia plant has become world renowned for its
effects as an appetite suppressant and weight loss supplement.
In order to become eligible to export to the Hoodia to the USA
and other nations, Hoodia farmers are required to procure
anC.I.T.E.S. certificate which is issued by the African
government on a per export-shipment basis.
How some are using the new extracts from the Hoodia plant? Well
as you might have guessed the plant is mainly being leveraged as
a weight loss supplement. The United States is Especially
excited for these products and the dramatic effects of the
Hoodia on hunger and thirst are amazing.
The chemical in Hoodia work within the satiety center of the
brain by releasing a chemical compound like glucose, but this
chemical has been shown to be up to 100,000 times stronger than
glucose. The hypothalamus gland receives this chemical signature
as an indication that enough food has been consumed and in turn
reduces a person's appetite.
Pure organic Hoodia is reported to contain a miracle molecule
that fools the brain into thinking you are full, and claims are
that the Hoodia chemicals even stop you from thinking about food.
Being healthy is important and taking our weight seriously is
also important. Time will tell if this new wonder compound can
really perform the way it says it can. I am sure most Americans
will be watching as we are becoming a nation of unhealthy and
overweight people
