Training your cat for the outdoors
Your cat will love to go outdoors; the environment is excellent
for him and good way to get exercise and the energy that he will
need to use to settle for a while so that he may not be up all
night wanting to go out.
The birdfeeder is a wonderful place for the cat to sit and
watch. Watch the birds as they bath and take position to drink
the water. Oh and kitty is ready to attack. Make sure the
birdfeeder is clear and letting the cat, no cover but not left
open to far from a tree for the bird to be able to get to incase
there is an attack. Make sure there is nothing near by that the
cat can jump up on and get to the feeder.
Your cat is a very good climber and fences are no exception for
your cat to climb. Those little paws know just what to do. If
you do have a fence, a good thing you may want to do is to put a
hang over on the top of the fence to keep the cat from going
over the top.
Cats are good high jumpers so you will want the top to be
inward tilt so that the cat cannot get a hold of it as he tries
to jump to the top while hanging on the fence. Netting is
another great idea. Cats do no like to get the paws, nails hung
on fabric, or netting, once they see that this is something that
can be done they will not try to go over.
The Garden is a great place for your cat to dig and eat your
plants. This will destroy your garden and some of the plants can
be poison.
Make your cat a private little garden in the corner with catnip,
oat grass or other plants that your cat can eat. By putting down
chicken wire the cat willnot want to come in the garden, as it
will be too hard to walk on for them.
Thee are sprays and other produces that you would be able to get
to help with having the cat stay out of the garden Using a
sprinkler system to water the garden , cats will not go near
sprays of water, and when he goes out side this would be a great
time to water the garden.
There are many dangers outside for your cat, if your cat has not
yet been able to roam outside, you will want to think about
training the cat on a leash. This is great way to start with
getting the cat to get outdoors and you knowing where you cat
is. Once you have trained the cat on the leash you will be able
to take steps in letting your cat run free in the yard.
Take you cat for walks with the leash, not only in the yard for
him to check the whole yard out, but down the street to check
out the other areas that he is not familiar with. This also is a
great idea in case kitty get does get a way, he can be familiar
with the area to get back home.
With the walks, you will be able to find out if there is and how
many other cats are left outside, as they will be course with
your cat. This too is a great idea to know if your cat can
really be left to roam. Remember during mating time your cat
will want to be with the neighbor cat and not at home.
Look at the yard carefully and make sure your cat will be safe
and that he will be able to have fun when he is outside. Provide
the actives that you approve of. Both you and your cat will have
great times outdoors
